About Us

Sandy Road Community Garden, Thornwood

A Little bit About Us

Formed in 2015, the Sandy Road Community Garden is based in the heart of Thornwood in Glasgow’s West End and is a stone’s throw from the neighbouring communities of Partick, Broomhill and Whiteinch. The garden is made up of a committed group of people from different backgrounds and age groups who regularly come together to focus on, and develop, their common interests of gardening and a more integrated community.

Our Garden at Sandy Road, Thornhill

Our garden design is based on organic raised bed permaculture and most of the space is allocated to growing fruit and vegetables for the personal consumption of our members. The garden delivers an abundant harvest each season and provides members with a regular, low-cost supply of healthy produce. Much of the space is communal; however, there is also the opportunity for members to tend to a small allocated growing section of their own and these spaces are offered to existing members as they become available.
